Sophie Fong soars to new height in pole vault as Troy sweeps tri-meet

TROY — Sophie Fong soared to new heights Monday night at Troy Memorial Stadium as the Trojans swept a tri-meet with Tipepcanoe and Fairborn.

Fong set a PR and moved into a tie for second all-time at Troy by clearing 12-0 to win the pole vault.

Girls team scores were Troy 119, Tippecanoe 19, Fairborn 4.

Hannah Stegamann swept the 100 hurdles, 17.8 and 300 hurdles, 52.65.

Also winning for Troy were Ansley Spence, 100, 13.56; Dinah Gigandet, 1,600, 6:02.20; Kiera Thomas, 400, 1:11.31; Brennah Hutchinson, 200, 27.08; Hannah Markeson, 800, 2:50.27; Ashley Kyle, 5,000 meters, 20:03.66; Kaylee Ludy, long jump, 14-10 1-2; Lena Walker, discus, 105-0; and Madison Harkins, shot put, 32-11 3-4.

Winning for Tippecanoe was Kaylee Smith, high jump, 4-10.

Boys team scores were Troy 61, Tippecanoe 55, Fairborn 25.

Winning for Troy were Josh Lovitt, 5,000 meters, 17:51.67; Jarod Barnhart, high jump, 5-4; Anthony Six, long jump, 17-2; Devon Howard-Strobel, discus, 123-0 and Nathan Kaiser, shot put, 40-1.

Winning for Tippecanoe were Blake McCullough, 100 hurdles, 18.53; Ben Prenger, 1,600, 5:04.79; Eli Eldridge, 300 hurdles, 46.53; Brayden Underwood, 800, 2:11.67; and Oliver Murray, pole vault, 9-6.
