Troy church to host blood drive

TROY — The First Presbyterian Church of Troy will host a community blood drive Wednesday, Aug. 10 from 2 to 6 p.m. at 20 S. Walnut St., Troy.

Appointments for blood drives must be made at www.DonorTime.com or by calling 937-461-3220.

Donors are required to provide a photo ID that includes their full name. Past CBC donors also are asked to bring their CBC donor ID card.

Donors must be at least 17 years of age, or 16 years old with parental consent, weigh a minimum of 110 pounds and be in good physical health. The Food and Drug Administration changes blood donor eligibility guidelines periodically.

A Celebration of Caring to be held Aug. 12

PIQUA—A Celebration of Caring, a fundraising event benefiting Catholic Social Services of the Miami Valley, will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 12 at the Round Barn at Orrmont Farm at 150 Fox Drive in Piqua.

Proceeds support counseling, senior visiting, transportation, and parenting programs in Miami, Shelby, Darke, Auglaize and Mercer Counties.

The entertainment for the evening will be Dueling Pianos International. Dubbed as America’s premier source for top-line sing-along entertainment, Dueling Pianos provides first class music and comedy in a high-energy show that keeps toes tapping and audiences laughing.

Admission to the event is $50 per person and includes reserved table seating, complimentary beer and wine, dinner, entertainment, a silent auction, and raffle items.

Doors to the event will open at 5:30. Dinner catered by Mrs. Bs of Pleasant Hill will begin at 6:30 p.m. with the entertainment to follow.

St. Patrick Church to offer Loss of Spouse program Aug. 27

TROY — The St. Patrick Church Grief Share Team will be offering Loss of Spouse to those grieving the death of a spouse on Saturday, Aug. 27 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Participants will hear practical advice from others who’ve been there, what to expect in grief, how to cope with life without a spouse, and why it won’t always hurt this much. Anyone who has experienced the loss of a spouse is invited for this encouraging seminar. Everyone who attends receives a booklet with over 30 short readings on how to live with grief and eventually rebuild their life.

The next GriefShare sessions begin Sept. 7, and meet weekly for 13 weeks. Afternoon sessions are offered at 1 p.m. and evening sessions are offered at 7 p.m. Meetings are held in St Patrick Parish Center, upstairs Room 3, 444 E. Water St., Troy.

Anyone is welcome to just come and check it out. Registration is not required.

PAC to assemble community choir

PIQUA—The Piqua Association of Churches is putting together a community choir to sing at the Miami Valley Centre Mall at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10.

The performance will take place in the food court area and will last for approximately 45 minutes to one hour.

True Life services, in person or online

TROY – Join True Life Community Church this Sunday for their August sermon series.

Everyone is always welcome; Sunday worship service starts at 10 a.m. The service is also available to live-stream on Facebook.

TROY — First United Church of Christ, located at 120 S. Market Street (corner of Canal and Market Street) invites all to join with them in worship. Services are available each Saturday at 5 p.m. and Sunday at 10:30 a.m. Those who are unable to in person can join the Sunday worship service via the Facebook page of First United Church of Christ.

Come for coffee and fellowship each Sunday before worship. During worship, Rev. Lauren Allen will share an inspirational message for adults and children alike.

Richards Chapel UMC services

TROY — Richards Chapel United Methodist Church, located at 831 McKaig Ave. in Troy, invites the community to join them for worship at 11 a.m. each Sunday.

You will be welcomed by warm and caring people. Pastor Kima Cunningham will be the messenger of God’s word each week.

First Lutheran holds services

TROY — First Lutheran Church of Troy is back to public worship and invites the community to weekly worship services on Sundays at 10 a.m.

AA-Open Group will be held at 6 a.m. on Mondays, and AA-Men’s Group will be held at 8:30 a.m. on Saturdays.
