PTA program receives grants for residual limb–wrapping models
PIQUA — Edison State Community College’s Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program received a $1,000 mini-grant from The Edison Foundation and a $350 grant from the General Fund of The Troy Foundation. These grants, along with departmental funds, went toward purchasing four new residual limb–wrapping models.

Edison State students join National Society of Leadership and Success
PIQUA — The National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS) welcomed 30 inductees from Edison State Community College during the spring semester. Edison State Chapter Advisor and faculty member William Loudermilk led the induction ceremony and Dr. Paul Heintz, Jr., Dean of Arts and Sciences, delivered a keynote address.

Voisard named semi-finalist in U.S. Presidential Scholars Program
PIQUA — Quinci Voisard, a senior at Upper Valley Career Center from Fort Loramie High School, has been named one of 620 semifinalists in the 2022 U.S. Presidential Scholars Program. The semifinalists were selected from over 5,000 candidates expected to graduate from U.S. high schools in the year 2022.
Edison State to hold creative writing event
PIQUA — Community members are invited to Edison State Community College’s Piqua Campus on Friday, May 6, at 2 p.m. in Room 456 for a creative writing event with established authors and those just beginning to explore their talents. Members of the Edison State Creative Writing Club and former students in Dr. Vivian Blevins’ college creative writing classes will read their work and have the opportunity to dialogue with established authors. Retired Edison State professor Cathy Essinger and current faculty member Debra Williamson will be featured.
83 students from Upper Miami Valley heading for State Science Day
PIQUA — One-hundred-thirty-two students from Miami, Darke, Shelby and Champaign Counties competed in the Ohio Academy of Science Upper Miami Valley District Science Day, held at Edison State Community College, Piqua, on Saturday, March 12, 2022. Students exhibited projects in science, technology, engineering and mathematics which they worked on from September through February of this year. The Science Day (Fair) program has been in Ohio since the 1949. Students who complete and present a science or engineering project at a local science fair in their school, or at a county event, may qualify to compete at the District level.
Lehman Catholic students compete in District Science Day
PIQUA – Ten students from Lehman Catholic High School participated in the Ohio Academy of Science Upper Miami Valley District Science Day, held at Edison State Community College in Piqua, Ohio on Saturday, March 9. Students from Champaign, Darke, Miami and Shelby counties exhibited projects in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Seven Lehman Catholic students received superior ratings, and several students received special awards and cash prizes.
